Duo Arrested in Franklin Road Robbery

One of the suspects faces additional charges in connection with another robbery on Franklin Road.

A Marietta man faces charges in connection with two armed robberies on Franklin Road.

The first robbery occurred about 10:57 p.m. May 29 in the 1000 block of Franklin Road. According to an arrest warrant, Rashad Jamal Rush and two unidentified males allegedly stole a bicycle from a man as he was returning home.

"The victim dismounted and attempted to defend his property," police said. "Accused and another male attacked the victim with pool sticks. This allowed for the bicycle to be stolen."

One of the suspects dropped his cellular phone during the robbery, which authorities traced to Rush, according to the warrant.

The second robbery occurred about 9:50 p.m. June 8 when Rush and Larry Bell of Cartersville allegedly approached a man behind Franklin Plaza.

"Accused did issue verbal commands and search the pockets of the victim, while Larry Bell held a .45 caliber handgun," police said. "Accused did take $800 from the victim, and then flee the crime scene with Larry Bell in Larry Bell's Ford Explorer."

The victim identified Rush in a photographic lineup, according to the warrant. Bell allegedly confessed to authorities that he was involved in the robbery, police said.

Rush was arrested on charges that include two counts of armed robbery. Bell was arrested on charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm.

Both men are in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
