According to Cobb District Attorney Vic Reynolds, a man has pleaded guilty to a 2012 armed robbery of a woman in Austell.
About 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 10, 2012, the victim had parked her car outside her apartment on Twin Hill Court and was walking inside alone while talking on her phone.
Erico Alexander Williams, who was 19 and living in Atlanta at the time, appeared out of nowhere and confronted her with a large black handgun.
“The victim feared for her life. He told her: ‘Hang up the phone and don’t say anything if you want to live,’ and later stated, ‘This .45 is loaded,’” Assistant District Attorney Brendan F. Murphy said.
Williams demanded the woman’s phone, purse and car keys, then fled in the woman’s Dodge Magnum.
He was scheduled to go on trial today, but this past Friday he pleaded guilty to armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle, and possessing a firearm during commission of a felony.
Cobb Superior Court Judge Stephen Schuster immediately sentenced Williams to 15 years, with 10 years to serve in custody.
