No Meth Lab at Skyway Apartments

About 7:22 a.m., officers with the Cobb County Police Department were dispatched to the Skyway Apartments, which is at 823 South Cobb Dr., said Officer Mike Bowman, the spokesman for the agency.

Update, 9:51 a.m.

A spokesman with the Cobb County Police Department said the "strong chemical smell" that came from the Skyway Apartments this morning was "not a (meth) lab."

About 7:22 a.m., officers with the Cobb County Police Department were dispatched to the Skyway Apartments, which is at 823 South Cobb Dr., said Officer Mike Bowman, the spokesman for the agency.

"While dealing with the individual inside," he said, there was "a strong chemical smell."

A hazardous materials team went to Skyway to find out the source of the smell coming from the complex. In addition to Cobb police and the Hazmat team, crews with Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services went to the scene, Bowman said.

By 9:33 a.m., police had "no confirmation of any meth lab at this time," Bowman said.

That changed 15 minutes later.

While Bowman said the smell wasn't because of a meth lab, he offered no other details.

A hazardous materials team is on South Cobb Drive trying to find out the source of a "strong chemical smell" coming from the Skyway Apartments.

About 7:22 a.m., officers with the Cobb County Police Department were dispatched to the complex, which is at 823 South Cobb Dr., said Officer Mike Bowman, the spokesman for the agency.

"While dealing with the individual inside," he said, there was "a strong chemical smell. No confirmation of any meth lab at this time." 

In addition to Cobb police and the Hazmat team, crews with Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services are on the scene, Bowman said.
