Cops: Man Brings Gun to Southern Poly

One man was arrested on the campus. Investigators are still looking for a student in connection with the incident.

A Morrow man accused of pulling a gun on someone at Southern Polytechnic State University was arrested Saturday on the campus.

Just after 1 a.m. Saturday in the school parking lot, Reginald Ira Hardimon allegedly pulled a Kel-Tec 9mm handgun from his back right pocket and pointed it at the victim, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant. As campus police investigated the incident, Hardimon ran from the officer and "did willfully attempt to discard the concealed weapon ... into a drainage ditch located on ... (the) campus," authorities wrote in the warrant.

Hardimon was booked into the Cobb County jail on various charges, including aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession and carrying a concealed weapon without a license, and carrying weapons within a school safety zone. He remains there in lieu of $25,000 bond.
