Man Killed at Marietta Bar

A fight likely led to the fatal shooting, say Cobb County police, who quickly made an arrest in the case.

A Marietta man was fatally shot late Saturday night at a bar after fighting with another man, now charged in his death, police said.

Jose Alvarez, 31, was shot about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at  at 1679 Joyner Ave.,  spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a news release.

The man believed to be the killer drove away with a woman in a blue-and-white 1983 Ford pickup truck.

Such a truck was spotted about 4 a.m. at a home on Curtis Road, about three miles southwest of Marietta, and the Cobb SWAT team was called in.

Christopher Brian Stewart, 45, was arrested without trouble and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault, Pierce said. The woman with him was unharmed.

Stewart is being held without bond at the . The jail booking report says he is homeless.
