Marietta Fire Department Graduates Nine Recruits

The Marietta Fire Department graduated nine recruits on Nov. 14, 2013.
The recruits, who began the program on Aug. 19, have faced a variety of training obstacles along their way towards becoming a member of the Marietta Fire Department.

These topics had a wide range of subjects including, Search and Rescue, Fire Attack, Fire Behavior, Rope Rescue, Hazardous Materials, CPR, Building Construction, Physical Fitness, Radio Communications, Fire Prevention Education, Firefighter Survival and Vehicle Extrication.
The recruits participated in their final training exercise on Nov. 13 at the Cobb County Department of Public Safety Training Center. Known as "The Crucible," this test is molded after the U.S. Marine Corps final training exercise.

After graduation the recruits will be placed on a 24-hour shift and assigned to any one of the six MFD stations. Recruits without previous emergency medical technician training will complete three months of medical training in addition to basic fire training.
