Marietta Fire Injures, Displaces Residents

It is the second fire at the Marquis View Apartments on Franklin Road.

A Thursday night fire at the Marquis View Apartments injured one resident, displaced others and caused $60,000 in damage.

The fire started just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the kitchen of a unit in building M before spreading to two other units, Marietta Fire Department Assistant Chief Scott Tucker said in a statement.

"Eight fire apparatus responded to the scene to battle and extinguish the fire," he said. "The on-scene investigation revealed that the fire was apparently accidental."

A resident who received minor injuries was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Tucker said.

The exact number of displaced residents is not known, but the American Red Cross was notified to assist them, he said.

This was the second fire since July 25 at the Marquis View Apartments. Twenty families were displaced in that fire.
