Marietta Fugitive Found in Unlikely Place

He is in the Cobb County Adult Detention without bond on 11 different charges.

Since April, five warrants have been issued for the arrest of Marietta's Jaterrio Xavier Pitts on charges that range from first degree burglary to hit-and-run.

Authorities found him Thursday afternoon in an unlikely place: in the attic of the Caswyck Trail Apartment Home of his estranged wife, the same woman who is listed as the victim in most of the warrants.

"Accused fell through the ceiling while hiding from the Cobb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit," according to a new warrant for Pitts' arrest, his sixth.

It is at that same address that Pitts allegedly grabbed Kiarica Denise Jones' neck, slammed her into a wall and poured bleach on her clothes on April 7, according to one warrant.

Five days later, he returned to the Favor Road Southwest complex and punctured another woman's tire with a pair of scissors, police said. Jones is listed as a witness in that warrant.

A third warrant details how Pitts allegedly kicked in Jones' front door, caused a large hole in the wall behind the door, damaged the frame around the door, kicked two holes in an upstairs closet door and kicked another hole in a bedroom wall on May 11.

The next day, he allegedly ran a red light at Pat Mell and Sandtown roads, crashed into a 1998 Toyota Sienna, got out of his 2013 Nissan Altima and ran from the scene without notifying law enforcement of the crash. The driver was injured during the accident, according to a fourth warrant.

Pitts allegedly returned to Jones' apartment on July 9, kicked in the locked front door, went to a nearby creek, picked up a rock and threw the rock through a kitchen window, authorities said in the fifth warrant.

Two days later, he fell through the ceiling of Jones' apartment, according to the sixth warrant.

"Accused did act in concert with Jaterrio Xavier Pitts and did conceal Jaterrio Pitts in the attic of said apartment," authorities said. "Affiant had previous contact with said accused and informed said accused to contact authorities if Jaterrio Pitts returned to the residence."

Jones was arrested on a charge of hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal. She was released from custody on a $5,000 bond.

Pitts is in the Cobb County Adult Detention without bond on 11 different charges.
