A Marietta man has been charged in the death of two men who were gunned down outside a Roswell home on Thursday.

The Roswell Police Department early Friday morning arrested Stephen Oliver Heller, 31, and charged him with two counts of homicide in the fatal shooting of Atlanta resident Spencer David Long, 20, and 20-year-old Nicholas Farrell Abry of Roswell, outside a home at 125 Lynwood Drive.

Both men were sitting Long’s gray Mazada SUV in front of the home when they were shot and killed, police said on Thursday. Long was a resident of the home.

Roswell police spokesperson Zachary Frommer said detectives believe the motive may have been a money dispute and Heller appears to be the only suspect in the shooting.

The shooting happened around 3 p.m. June 5, and neighbors called Roswell 911 to report they'd heard several gunshots and told dispatchers they saw a man flee the scene in a charcoal gray Audi sedan, Frommer said.

Soon after that call, Roswell 911 began to receive calls about a reckless driver on S.R. 120/Marietta Highway near Coleman Road. The vehicle in question was closer to the description of the vehicle witnesses saw at the scene of the shooting, Frommer added.

Officers swarmed onto the area and located the vehicle, a charcoal gray Audi, in the parking lot of the Kroger shopping center at 900 Marietta Highway. Initially, it was not clear if the vehicle and its sole occupant — Heller — were involved in the fatal shootings, as officers were following up on various leads involving other Audi vehicles.

Heller was initially arrested on a suspended license charge and held at the Roswell Detention Center while detectives continued to work the case. As the investigation continued, officers discovered the gun allegedly used at the crime scene and a white paper drive-out tag witnesses noticed on the Audi.

Using evidence and witness statements gathered, Roswell detectives obtained arrest warrants for Heller, who is currently at the detention center and will be transported to the Fulton County Jail.

Filled with rage then Billy Joe reached for his gun to draw But the stranger drew his gun and fired Before he even saw As Billy Joe fell to the floor The crowd all gathered 'round And wondered at his final words Don't take your guns to town son Leave your guns at home Bill Don't take your guns to town
