Marietta Man Charged in Wife’s Death

A Cobb County man has been charged in the shooting of his wife near Marietta.

responded to a report of gunshots fired at a home in the 2000 block of Olive Springs Road Sunday evening. When officers arrived, they found Lydia King, 53, dead in the yard from apparent gunshot wounds, the San Francisco Chronicle and CBS Atlanta report.

Joe King, 55, of Marietta, was arrested and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, Atlanta-Journal Constitution and CBS Atlanta. He was being held without bond Monday in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

The couple had a history of domestic violence. Lydia King was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault with intent to murder in 2010 after allegedly trying to kill her husband, according to the AJC.
