Marietta Man Dies in Chastain Road, Chastain Meadows Parkway Accident

The crash occurred in the intersection of Chastain Road and Chastain Meadows Parkway in Kennesaw.

The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating the death of an individual, who was involved in a crash on Saturday, Jan. 11.

The crash occurred in the intersection of Chastain Road and Chastain Meadows Parkway in Kennesaw, according to Public Information Officer Sergeant Dana Pierce.

At the time of the crash, investigators believed that the female driver of a gold 2005 Toyota Corolla was attempting to turn left from westbound Chastain Road to southbound Chastain Meadows Parkway, Pierce said.

While doing so, the driver turned in front of a green 1999 Mercury Mountaineer, which was traveling eastbound on Chastain Road. The right front of the Toyota collided with the left front of the Mercury.

The driver of the Mercury was identified as Kenneth D. Arneaud, 67, of Kennesaw. He was not injured in the crash.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as Maxine Clark, 84, of Kennesaw.

Both Clark and her front seat passenger, identified as Dexter R. Leslie, 86, of Marietta, were transported by ambulance to Grady Hospital.

On Sunday, Jan. 19, Leslie died as a result of injuries he sustained in the collision.

Charges are expected to be filed in the fatality crash, according to Pierce.

Anyone with information about it is asked to call (770) 499-3987.
