A Marietta man convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend’s fiancée was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison on Thursday.

The Cobb District Attorney's office said a jury also convicted Burr of felony murder and aggravated assault, as well as possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

During Burr's trial, prosecutors said that the defendant and his long-time but estranged girlfriend, Fredericka Washington McCrary, had broken up last October.

Burr went to the home she was sharing with her mother on Griggs Street around 2:30 p.m. on the day of the killing, according to court testimony, with the intention of giving her money.

After giving the money to her son, he left the home. McCrary later called Burr on the phone to tell him she was engaged to Moses.

Burr then went back to the house and found McCrary and Moses sitting in her car in the driveway.

Burr pulled his truck into the driveway and pulled out a .45 caliber handgun, admitting on the witness stand during the trial that “I walked in front of my truck and started shooting.”

Moses was shot five times in the back while trying to get away, and no one else was injured, according to prosecutors.

Burr was arrested at the scene and has been held without bond at Cobb County Adult Detention Center since then.
