Marietta Man Gets 45 Years for Child Rape, Molestation

Eduardo Samir Castillanos was convicted of attacking two female family members.

A Marietta man charged with sexually assaulting two children in his family has been convicted and sentenced to 45 years in prison, according to Cobb District Attorney Vic Reynolds.

Eduardo Samir Castillanos, 28, was convicted of raping a girl between 2007 and 2008 when she was not quite 10 years old, and of aggravated child molestation against the same victim for acts that occurred in March of this year. He also was found guilty of molesting another younger girl, also for incidents in March.

“I’ve been on the bench since 2002 and before that spent time in juvenile court, and I don’t think I’ve seen a situation as horrendous as this,” Cobb Superior Court Judge Stephen Schuster said Monday as he issued the sentence against Castillanos.

A total of 11 people, including the two victims, testified during the trial, which lasted a week.

“There are no winners here. Although justice has been served, these two young girls have and will continue to suffer emotional damage for the rest of their lives,” Cobb Assistant District Attorney Susan Treadaway said in a statement.

Reynolds' office said that Castillanos, who has been held in custody since his arrest in May, also has an immigration hold on his release.
