Cobb police say a Marietta man died Monday morning after apparently turning into the path of a truck near the intersection of Sandy Plains and Wigley roads in East Cobb.

Kevin Palmer, 57, was driving a 2003 Honda Accord northbound on Sandy Plains and was attempting to turn left onto westbound Wigley during a green signal.

According to Sgt. Dana Pierce, for reasons unknown, Palmer pulled into the path of a 2013 International box truck, which was traveling southbound on Sandy Plains. After striking the Honda on the passenger side door, the box truck and the Honda redirected to the southwest corner of the intersection where the box truck struck a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck.

The box truck then continued on into the grass before it came to a stop after striking an automatic traffic intersection control box.

Palmer was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the box truck has been identified as 38-year-old Philippe Pilon of Alpharetta. He was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as 63-year-old Frank Langley of Acworth. He did not require medical attention at the scene.

No criminal charges are expected to be filed in this case, however anyone with information about it can call 770-499-3987.
