Marietta Police Called to Cop Shooting Suspect's Home

The man killed in Friday night's police shootout on GA 400 lived in a neighborhood on Oak Harbor Trail.

Alpharetta police, the GBI, Marietta Police and the Cobb County police "bomb squad" are searching the home of the Marietta man killed Friday night after a high-speed chase that started when he shot an Alpharetta officer five times.

The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety recently developed information that Friday’s suspect in our shooting incident, may have had an explosive device in his Marietta residence," said George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety in a release this afternoon.

A search warrant was being executed at the Marietta residence of Curtis Hicks at 355 Oak Harbor Trail, Marietta. The Alpharetta investigators are working with the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Cobb County police explosive ordinance units and with the assistance of Marietta Police.

"As of this time, no device has been found," Gordon said in his news release. "We have taken these precautionary steps to gather evidence related to the initial event and to ensure the safety of nearby residents."
