Marietta Police Department Promotes Veterans

This article is written by the city of Marietta.

Marietta Police chief Dan Flynn announced the promotion of three city police officers on June 18. Mike Goins was appointed to Lieutenant. David Collins was appointed to Sergeant. Benjamin Mixon was appointed to Sergeant.

"Today's a big day for three of our finest Marietta Police officers, and I am very proud of each one of them," deputy chief Marty Ferrell said. "Each time you're promoted it's a special day for you, and I truly believe that the first promotion when you're promoted to sergeant is the most important one," he said. "The sergeants of the road are the most important piece of the pie for us as supervisors."

"The promotion process we have at the police department is highly competitive, and it's tough and they compete against excellent peers," Flynn said. "For those of you who are here, know that you are so vital to not only the success of the men who are being promoted but you are also vital to our police department's success," he said. "You've helped make them successful, and you've helped them through the tough times."
