Marietta Woman, 20, Dies After Car Crash

Cobb police expect to charge a Kennesaw man in Wednesday night's fatal wreck on Barrett Parkway.

Chassity Hollaman, 20, of Marietta died today from injuries she suffered in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday night in Kennesaw.

Police expect to charge one of the other drivers, Alberto Jose Abreus of Kennesaw, in connection with the wreck and the woman’s death.

According to a news release from Cobb County police Sgt. Dana Pierce, investigators from the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program determined that Abreus caused the collision by running a red light on Barrett Parkway at Roberts Boulevard.

Investigators found that Hollaman had a green light when she drove a blue 2006 Toyota Solara south along Roberts into the intersection just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Abreus’ black 1996 Infiniti G20 headed westbound into the intersection along Barrett Parkway at the same time despite a red light, Pierce reported.

The Infiniti slammed into the driver’s door of the Toyota, sending both vehicles careening into the eastbound side of Barrett Parkway, where Hollaman’s car hit a red 1998 Ford Explorer stopped at the light.
