Marietta Woman Back Behind Bars

She had just gotten out of jail July 21.

A woman just released from the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in connection with a prescription drug case is back behind bars on unrelated charges.

Ameerah Dione Smith was allegedly driving without a valid license when Marietta police stopped her on Franklin and Delk roads last Wednesday in a stolen 2004 Jeep Liberty, according to an arrest warrant. She allegedly had her 2-month-old son in a car seat without any restraints to secure him in the seat.

"Accused used a seatbelt in the vehicle and placed it across the child safety seat to 'secure' it," according to the warrant.

Smith was arrested that evening on one count each of theft by receiving stolen property, driving without a license and child safety restraints violation. She had only been out of jail since July 21.

Smith is in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bond.
