Four people injured.

The Marietta Police Department is asking for help with information about a crash that occurred Thursday on Cobb Parkway and Canton Road Connector, which injured four people.

From the Marietta Police Department:

The Marietta Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit (STEP) is currently investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on Cobb Parkway and Canton Road Connector on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at approximately 4:45pm

The initial on scene investigation revealed that a grey, 2011 Toyota Highlander was on the exit ramp from the Canton Road Connector towards Cobb Parkway when for an unknown reason the driver, identified as 78-year-old Thomas Dempsey from Cleveland, Ohio, lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway.
The Highlander traveled through the grass at a high rate of speed and struck a ditch causing the vehicle to become airborne.  The Highlander landed on top of a light brown, 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by 56 year old Boris Woodard of Marietta, that was travelling in the northbound lanes of Cobb Parkway.

Both vehicles slid across all lanes of Cobb Parkway then traveled down the embankment on the west side of Cobb Parkway where they separated and came to rest against several trees. Woodard and his passenger, identified as 25 year old Anna Woodard of Marietta were both transported to Kennestone Hospital.

Boris Woodard was listed in serious condition while Anna Woodard was listed in critical condition.  Thomas Dempsey and his passenger, 73 year old Delann Dempsey of Cleveland, Ohio, were both transported to Kennestone Hospital and both were listed in serious condition.  Charges are pending at this time and anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Stephen Miller at 770-794-5356.
