Safety Tips, Laws for Going Back to School

Vehicular and pedestrian traffic will increase, especially in subdivisions and apartment complexes. Large numbers of parents and children will be congregating on street corners. are advising residents to slowdown and pay careful attention in these areas and watch for buses and as they stop to load and unload their passengers.

Reduced speed limits in school zones will be active and indicated by flashing yellow lights.
As a reminder, state law requires that traffic in both directions stop for school buses loading and unloading their passengers. The only exception to this law is when there is a divided highway separated by a raised median and you are in the lane of traffic opposite that of the school bus.
