Sprinkler Saves House, 11 People

A blaze in a Marietta house was extinguished before the Fire Department arrived early Saturday.

A home sprinkler system helped save 11 people from a fire early Saturday.

Most of the six children and five adults in the house in the 1600 block of Massachusetts Avenue were asleep when the fire broke out in a back bedroom, according to a Marietta Public Safety news release.

Several adults tried to put the fire out, but it was a single sprinkler head that did the job before the city arrived.
