Student Arrested at Osborne High

It occurred after an alleged incident between the student and his teacher.

An Osborne High student is in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center after an incident with a teacher at the school.

Class was in session about 2:25 p.m. Thursday, but Gabriel Jeremiah Ward had a lot to say, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

The teacher asked the student to be quiet 10 times, but Ward allegedly refused, the school's officer wrote in the warrant. After the tenth request, the teacher asked Ward to leave the classroom.

"The accused started gathering his belongings very slowly and began to get increasingly belligerent and talking loudly," the officer wrote.

Ward allegedly cursed the teacher, and "continued to talk and not leave the classroom with any urgency," the officer wrote. "Therefore, (the teacher) placed his hand about the shoulder of the accused to lead out of the classroom and away from the other students."

Ward allegedly grabbed the teacher's arm and used more swear words, according to the warrant.

While Ward and other students in the class said the teacher "grabbed him about the neck and led him aggressively and inappropriately out of the classroom," Ward was arrested at the school on a charge of disruption of public schools.

He remains in the county jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.

It's not clear if the teacher faced any disciplinary action over the incident. Jay Dillon and Doug Goodwin, the spokesmen for the Cobb County School District, could not be reached for comment.
