Suspect Arrested for Marietta School Bomb Threats

Marietta Police say authorities in Chicago arrested bomb threat suspect on unrelated criminal charges there today.

A person suspected of making bomb threats to two Marietta schools this week has been taken into custody in Chicago today, Marietta Police said.

The Marietta Police Department’s Investigative Services Unit had been investigating the threats sent to both Marietta High School and Marietta Middle School on Tuesday. The threats were in the form of letters sent to both schools. As a result, officials locked down both schools. Extensive searches have revealed nothing suspicious; a final search was to be conducted on Friday before the start of school.

Marietta Police officials say they were able to identify the origin of the letters and quickly developed a suspect in the case.  The suspect was then taken into custody on unrelated criminal charges in Chicago. The suspect has not been identified yet.
