Chief: River Green Home with Suspected Explosives 'Not Normal'

The situation at a River Green home where authorities  was "dysfunctional,"  Chief Bob Merchant said this afternoon.

"When you have juveniles engaging in this type of behavior, and you have parents or adults that elect, for whatever reason, not to get involved, that's not a normal situation," he said.

SWAT Standoff, Bomb Threat in Lawrenceville

Gwinnett County Police were called to a SWAT standoff at the  at the intersection of Buford Drive and Russell Road at about 10am.

An armed man was reportedly in a vehicle at the gas station. He allegedly was beating a female in his car and eventually let her go after police intervention. The suspect threatened police and is claiming there are explosives in the car.

Man Passes Out, Arrested for Heroin Use

On July 28 a Johns Creek Police officer was dispatched to a residence on Spirit Falls Way following a report of an unconscious man.

When the officer arrived he found the front door ajar and a man in his mid-30s to early 40s lying on a sofa unconscious but breathing, with a woman sitting with him who was upset.

The officer noted a small bag with white powder and a dirty spoon with burn marks sitting on the table next to the man. On the floor nearby was a syringe and a band.

Kennesaw Man Goes Missing

Authorities in Rabun County are looking for a man who went missing while in the North Georgia mountains.

According to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Richard Arnold "Rick" Masters, 56, was reported missing on July 21 by his brother, who lives in , after not being heard from in two days.

Masters reportedly liked to hike in the area of Tallulah Falls, and his unoccupied Jeep Cherokee was found last Thursday at the end of Kelsey Mountain Road, which is where he likely had been hiking, the newspaper reports. Officials said the Jeep was locked when they found it and that there were no signs of foul play.
