Two Marietta Teens Charged with Murder

An 18-year-old Marietta man was found with a knife wound near the Cobb Community Transport Terminal on South Marietta Parkway on Saturday. Two teens, 14 and 16, were arrested and charged with murder.

The Marietta Police Department arrested two juveniles for a murder that occurred near the Cobb Community Transport (CCT) Terminal parking lot located at 800 South Marietta Parkway. 

On Saturday, Sept. 28, at around 11:30 p.m., Marietta Police responded to the area of South Marietta Parkway and Aviation Road for a report of an unconscious person in a grassy area near the roadway, Marietta Police Public Information Officer David Baldwin said.

The victim, identified as 18-year-old Marqise Carruthers of Marietta, was discovered to have had a single knife wound to the chest, Baldwin said. 

Carruthers was rushed to Kennestone Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

An investigation revealed that an altercation had occurred between the victim and two juveniles at another location and ended violently near the CCT parking lot. 

On Sunday, Sept. 29, Marietta Police Detectives arrested 14-year-old Josue Chapa and 16-year-old Brandon Betancourt, both of Marietta, and charged them as adults with Murder, Baldwin said.
