Woman Stabbed at Cobb Home; Husband Charged

She's in stable condition and her husband, the suspect, is serious after allegedly setting his car and another home in Marietta on fire early Friday.

A woman was stabbed multiple times at her Cobb residence early this morning and her husband has been charged after he set his vehicle and another home on fire, according to Marietta Police.

Juan Espinal, 55, is in serious condition at WellStar Kennestone Hospital after he was found unconscious on Chastain Road near Interstate 75, Marietta Police spokesman David Baldwin said.

Baldwin said Espinal's wife is listed in stable condition and also is being treated at Kennestone.

According to police, Espinal stabbed her during a domestic incident around 1:20 a.m. Friday at a home in the 2000 block of Winterset Parkway, in the Winterset complex on Powers Ferry Road near Delk Road.

Baldwin said Espinal fled the residence and drove to a home on Brookhaven Drive, located off Bells Ferry Road, and then set his car and a home on fire.

No one at that home was hurt, police said, but they believe there may be a connection between that residence and the incident between Espinal and his wife.

Espinal was found several hours later, and Marietta Police have obtained a warrant against him for aggravated assault, according to Baldwin.

Marietta Police and Cobb Fire arson investigators are continuing to work the case. Anyone with information is asked to call Marietta Police Detective Michael Freer at 770-794-5477 or the Marietta Police Anonymous Tip Line at 770-794-6990.
