A Sign of the Times

Construction crews remove signage from the last reminder of the existence of the former Naval Air Station Atlanta in Marietta.

by Don Peek, 94th Airlift Wing Public Affairs,

As part of an upgrade to Hangar 5 at Dobbins Air Reserave Base on April 17 construction crews removed signage from the structure that could be considered the last reminder of the existence of the former Naval Air Station Atlanta.

The weathered sign was removed one letter at a time in preparation for new paint.

The project involves interior and exterior upgrades including a new roof, heating and air conditioning, and interior finishes.

The Hangar, a familiar site now belonging to Dobbins, houses various organizations and is used for a number of large assemblies.
