The are expected to approve a contract that will allow advertising to be placed on the windows of (CCT) buses to generate additional revenue for the county.
As reported by The Marietta Daily Journal, the process to approve a contractor for this project has taken roughly a year due to the lack of competitive bidding.
In May, the county invited representatives to examine the dimensions of CCT buses, which caused two more companies to submit bids. The contract was won by Signal Outdoor Advertising, of Orlando.
The ads are expected to bring in at least $60,000 in the first year, at least $70,000 in the second year, and at least $80,000 in 2015, when the project is slated to end.
This infusion of cash will keep fares at the $2.50 level.
Northeast Cobb's District 3 will be the focus of other agenda items for Tuesday morning's meeting.
It is expected that the Commissioners will award a roughly $700,000 contract to K.M. Davis Contracting Co., Inc. to replace around 7,400 ft. of water main along Bells Ferry Road.
The project will involve removal of the old 6-inch asbestos cement main with a state of the art 12-inch ductile iron main. This will reduce repair demands on this section of water main and increase delivery capacity to the area.
Commissioners are also expected to approve a Cobb Framework Agreement (CFA) between the county and the Town Center Area Community Improvement District (TCACID) detailing the responsibilities of each organization in the South Barrett Parkway Reliever project.
In August, 2011, the TCACID approved a study of ways to relieve traffic along Barrett Parkway near Town Center Mall. The study revealed two possibilities:
- Extending Shiloh Valley Drive/Greers Chapel Drive over I-75 to meet with Roberts court, or
- Extending Shiloh Valley Drive/Greers Chapel Drive to meet with Chastain Meadows Boulevard on the other side of I-75.
According to the CFA, the TCACID will pay the fees of the consulting agency brought in to assist on the project, and the county will provide all relevant data and information about the preliminary development at no cost to both the consulting agency and TCACID.
