Dobbins Celebrates Family Day

Dobbins employees including civilian, military and retired service members brought their families to the base for Family Day on Saturday.

The sun barely peered through the clouds forming a perfect warm-breeze combination. The atmosphere smelled of barbeque as hot dogs and hamburgers cooked on the grill.
The voices of young children filled every silent space. Their eyes glistened as they jumped in the moonwalk like popping corn.

The streets were lined with booths of all sorts from local car dealerships to military credit unions. Dobbins employees: military, civilian and retired enjoyed the atmosphere with their families.

Col. Timothy E. Tarchick, 94th Airlift Wing commander took the stage and greeted the crowd. He presented spouse of the year award to Pamela Schubert, wife of Chief Master Sgt. Mike Schubert, 94 AW Civil Engineer superintendent. James Taylor played in the background.

"How sweet it is to be loved," said the deejay over the speaker. "What a great way to start off this year's Family Day!"

May 14 provided another great Family Day at Dobbins Lakehouse Lounge facility.
"This is a great time for us to get out and to mingle with one another," said Col. Richard L. Kemble, 94th AW vice commander. "I encourage you to leave the office and to enjoy this day with one another and with your families."

Other Family Day activities included giveaways, a fire muster, row boat rides, face painting and activities for kids, hundreds of dollars worth of giveaways and a security forces demonstration to name a few.
