Don't Get Caught in Traffic

Take a look at the roadwork being done in and around Marietta this week, July 2 through July 6. Barrett Parkway, Roswell Road and Paper Mill Road are among the affected roads.

The following road work will be in progress this week, according to :

NB Barrett Parkway Construction Update: The NB inside lane will be closed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. near Stilesboro Road. The contractor is NOT scheduled to work on Wednesday, July 4.

Here’s what to consider for your commute through July 6: NB Barrett Pkwy (Burnt Hickory Rd to Old Hwy 41) through Friday, July 6. No work on Wednesday, July 4.

You can expect periodic outside lane closures Northbound between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. between Burnt Hickory Road and Old Highway 41.  One lane will remain open at all times as the contractor performs grading operations, wall construction and storm drainage work.  Various utility companies will be relocating services, which should not affect your service. 

SB Barrett Pkwy (Ridenour Blvd to Burnt Hickory Rd): No work on Wednesday, July 4. Anticipate periodic outside lane closures Southbound from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Ridenour and Burnt Hickory Roads with one lane remaining open at all times. The contractor will be performing grading operations, wall construction and storm drainage work.  Various utility companies relocating services, which should not affect your service.

Night Work NB and SB Barrett Pkwy (Stilesboro Rd to Old Hwy 41) – Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6 (No work on Wednesday, July 4): Expect inside lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the Northbound and Southbound lanes between Stilesboro Road and Old Highway 41.  One lane will remain open in both directions at all times.  The contractor will be installing storm drainage.

 

The following road work will be in progress this week, including the July 4 holiday on Wednesday, according to District 3 Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell:

Jamerson Road/Wigley Road Construction Update: Please note the contractor will be working on Wednesday, July 4.

Canton Rd to Trickum Rd – Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6: This section of construction is substantially complete. The contractor will continue adding the finishing touches on the project including fine grading and grassing shoulders.

Trickum Rd to Jims Rd – Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Trickum Road and Jims Road with one lane remaining open for your commute. Be advised, the contractor will be placing final lane striping and installing traffic signals at the site.

Jims Rd to Sandy Plains Rd – Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Jims Road and Sandy Plains Road.  One lane will remain open at all times for your commute.  The contractor will be grading and installing storm drainage with utility relocations, which should not affect your service.

Construction Update: The contractor is not working this weekend June 30 to July 1 or on the holiday, Wednesday, July 4. Expect delays at the roundabout as the contractor places asphalt paving on Monday, July 2 and striping on Tuesday, July 3.

Mark Avenue remains closed to traffic at the bridge spanning a tributary of Noonday Creek.  The contractor will be relocating water main and begin demolition of the existing bridge.  Utility companies will be relocating services, which should not affect your service. 

Roswell Road (SR 120) widening from SR 120 Loop to Bridgegate Drive Update: The contractor is not working on the holiday, Wednesday, July 4. There will be no lane closures or any work that impacts traffic during the week of July 2, 2012.

Davidson Road to Surrey Trail: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with one lane remaining open for your commute. The contractor is performing grading and wall construction. Various utility companies are relocating services, which should not affect service.

Mill Run Drive to Willow Point Parkway: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with one lane remaining open for your commute. The contractor will perform grading and storm drainage construction. Utilities relocation should not affect service.

Paper Mill Road at Sope Creek Elementary School: Intermittent lane closures – when necessary - will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sope Creek Elementary School, with one lane remaining open. The contractor will be grading and placing concrete curbing. Utility contractors will relocate facilities, which should not affect any services.

Woodland Brook Drive: Woodland Brook Drive remains closed to traffic in the vicinity of Brandy Station Drive. The contractor is continuing excavation, sanitary sewer relocation and utility relocations. The roadway is scheduled to reopen by July 29.
