Early Voting Underway for March 15 Special Election

The advanced opening of polls for the March 15 election for a new one-cent sales tax tops The 5 Things today.

1. Early voting for the March 15 special election began Monday and continues through March 11 at the Elections Office in the , 736 Whitlock Ave.  Registered voters may appear in persom from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or apply for a vote-by-mail ballot. Applications are available at cobbelections.org.

Up for a vote is the latest Special Local Option Sales Tax or SPLOST, which is designed to raise more than $492 million for public improvements throughout the county.

3. Our Shared Forests,  a partnership between Georgia and Ecuador to monitor and preserve migratory birds, will hold a curriculum workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the at 662 South Cobb Drive. The program focuses on 10 particular birds that migrate between Georgia to Ecuador.

4.The Cobb 4-H Club is taking prepaid orders for its annual plant sale until March 9. This year's plants blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, Admiral Semmes azalea, crape myrtles, edgeworthia, hellebores, heuchere and Spring Bouquet Viburnum. The plant sale order form is available at cobbcounty.org/extension or by calling 770-528-4076.
