International F-35 Fleet Begins Build Up

The U.K. officially took ownership of ZM135 at a ceremony in Fort Worth last week. The jet will be used for operational testing and evaluation.

ZM135, a British F-35B and the first international Lockheed Martin Lightning II, took off from Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base at 9:03 a.m. CDT Monday en route for Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

United Kingdom Royal Air Force Squadron Leader Jim Schofield piloted the short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) jet for the 90 minute ferry flight.
