Labor Day Means Festivals, Closings

Here's a breakdown of what you should know before you leave home Sept. 5 in Marietta.

1. Today will have showers and possibly a thunderstorm with a high near 77 and south winds between 5 mph and 15 mph. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Tonight has a low of 68 and a 100 percent chance of precipitation, the National Weather Service says.

2. It is the third and final day of the Art in the Park festival. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

3. 's , a festival of Jewish food and fun, offers sample-size portions of food from restaurants and caterers in the area for $1 to $4. There will be craft and other vendor booths, inflatables and other entertainment for kids as well as music for all ages. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

4. Today is Labor Day, which means the city's administrative offices, schools, banks and post offices as well as federal and state offices will be closed.

5. Regular Monday garbage and recycling pickups will be on Tuesday. Regular Tuesday services will be on Wednesday. Yard waste services are discontinued this week.
