Marietta Center, West Side Elementary Get Achievement Awards

Marietta Center for Advanced Academics is one of 28 elementary schools statewide to receive a Highest Performance Platinum Award, and West Side Elementary is one of 57 elementary schools to receive a Highest Performance Bronze Award.

Two are among 259 Georgia public schools recognized by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement during the 2010-2011 school year for high achievement on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests.

For the fourth consecutive year, the earned a Platinum Award for Outstanding Student Achievement: Highest Performance. earned a Bronze Award: Highest Performance.

β€œThis is exciting news for both schools. Congratulations to the staff and students at MCAA and West Side for earning these Georgia SSAS awards for highest achievement on the CRCT,” said Dr. Emily Lembeck, Marietta City Schools Superintendent, in a press release.

MCAA is one of only 28 elementary schools statewide to receive a Highest Performance Platinum Award, and West Side Elementary is one of only 57 elementary schools statewide to receive a Highest Performance Bronze Award.

Schools are awarded on four levels, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze, and in two categories. The categories are Greatest Gains, 111 schools are recognized for demonstrating significant improvement on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests or the Georgia High School Graduation Tests, and Highest Performance, 259 schools are recognized for high achievement on the tests.
