Marietta, Cobb County Road Work, Nov. 5-9

Take a look at the Cobb County road work being done from Monday, Nov. 5 through Friday, Nov. 9, according to Cobb County Commissioners Bob Ott, JoAnn Birrell, Woody Thompson and Helen Goreham. Don’t forget to tell us when you spot road work/traffic.

Floyd Road Construction Update

Clay Road to Hicks Road: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. There will be no lane closures on Tuesday, Nov. 6, for the General Election.

Hicks Road Sidewalks Construction Update

Frontier Trail to Floyd Oaks Drive: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. The contractor will be installing storm drainage, curb, gutter and sidewalk north of the East-West Connector. Utility companies will begin relocating services which should not affect your service.

Jamerson Road/Wigley Road Construction Update

Canton Road to Trickum Road: This section of construction is substantially complete. The contractor will be fine grading, grassing and working on punchlist items.

Trickum Road to Jims Road: This section of construction is substantially complete. The contractor will be fine grading, grassing and working on punchlist items.

Jims Road to Sandy Plains Road: Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wigley Road with one lane remaining open at all times for your commute. There will be no lane closures on Tuesday, Nov. 6 for the General Elections. The contractor will be placing final pavement striping in this area.

Barrett Parkway Construction

NB Barrett Pkwy (Burnt Hickory Road to US 41): You can expect periodic lane closures northbound between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. between Burnt Hickory Road and Cobb Parkway (US 41).  One lane will remain open at all times as the contractor performs grading operations, wall construction and storm drainage work. 

SB Barrett Pkwy (Cobb Place to Burnt Hickory Road: Also anticipate periodic lane closures southbound from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Cobb Place and Burnt Hickory Road with one lane remaining open at all times.

Road Resurfacing

Asphalt paving operations and shoulder rehabilitation, which will include lane closures with one lane remaining open at all times, are scheduled on the followings roads:

• Cooper Lake Road from South Cobb Drive to East-West Connector
• Buckner Road from Veterans Memorial Highway to Oakdale Road
• Cumberland Parkway at Paces Ferry Rd Intersection 
• King Springs Road from Smyrna City Limits to Cooper Lake Road 
• Mars Hill Road from Kemp Ridge to Orr Road
