Marietta Man Guilty of Child Molestation

Eduardo Hernandez could be sentenced to life in prison plus 60 years.

A 34-year-old Marietta man was convicted Thursday evening of molesting a girl, now 7, over a period of several months in 2011.

Eduardo Hernandez, who was found guilty of one count of aggravated child molestation and three counts of child molestation, could get life in prison plus 60 years.

Hernandez was arrested in August 2011 and has remained at Cobb County Jail without bond. He has an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold on his release, said Kim Isaza, the spokeswoman for Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds.

“This defendant took advantage of a little girl living in his home,” Assistant District Attorney Chuck Boring, who prosecuted the case, said. “The girl is 7 now and doing well in school. The family is happy to close this chapter of their lives and move on. The defendant is in this country illegally and once he is done serving his prison sentence, he will be deported.”

Cobb Superior Court Judge Robert Leonard has set sentencing for 1:30 p.m. April 15.
