Mayor, City Officials Host Business Lunch

On Oct. 15, as part of the Mayor's Business and Industry Luncheon Series, Mayor Steve Tumlin hosted businesses in the Franklin Road corridor area for a luncheon at the Red Hare Brewery.

Mayor Tumlin and city officials periodically host luncheons at various industrial areas throughout the city of Marietta. The goal of these luncheons are for key city staff to discuss city projects, engage business owners in discussions about how the city can better serve them and determine ways the individual businesses can become involved with the community. It is also seen as a great opportunity for businesses to get to know their neighbors and network.

"I was pleased to see that today's luncheon hosted at the Red Hare Brewery was well attended," said mayor Tumlin. "I believe this provides the city the unique opportunity to get to know the issues affecting the businesses in the area."

The mayor and various city officials addressed business owners and real estate brokers from the Franklin Road corridor providing updates on road projects and initiatives affecting Franklin Road. 

In addition, information was provided on the proposed general obligation bond that will be on the Nov. 5 ballot for consideration. 

Those in attendance were able to learn more about the bond, ask questions about the process and learn how redevelopment may impact their businesses. 

Attendees were also able to communicate with the police department about any safety concerns they may have for the area.

The city's Economic Development manager Beth Sessoms said, "These luncheons are a great way for the private and public sector to come together to identify common goals to strengthen the economy of the corridor. It is gratifying to see so many property owners in attendance who are interested in their community."
