Mayor Presents Earl Smith Heating and Air Key to Marietta

Employees, customers and elected officials attended the ceremony honoring Earl Smith Heating and Air's 50 years of service to the community.

Marietta mayor Steve Tumlin presented Earl Smith Heating and Air a key to the city on Tuesday, Oct. 9 in recognition of their 50 years of service to the community.

"I've learned more from Earl Smith, and working with the (Strand) board and with the family than in all my years of college," Earl Smith Strand Theatre executive director Earl Reece said. "Where else than in the city of Marietta and Cobb County could you have a company that has survived for 50 years?"

"We have a mayor who appreciates the incredible things that have been accomplished by this company, and he's sent me e-mails the past several days that say so much about the integrity and the respect that the Smith family has earned."

During the ceremony, Tumlin thanked the Smith family for their dedication to Marietta over the years.

"Thank you for your commitment and quality of service to the city of Marietta for the past 50 years," Tumlin said. "Thank you for the doors of opportunity that you have opened in the city of Marietta," he said. "We look forward to another 50 years."

Earl Smith Heating and Air employees and customers, and elected city, county and state officials attended the ceremony, which included a performance by the quartet 129 & Counting.
