Nelson's Ex-Husband Supports Initial Conviction

A Cobb County state judge dismissed a misdemeanor reckless conduct charge and was considering the possibility of dropping two more charges against the Marietta mother whose son was killed by a hit-and-run driver.

LaBron Newman, Racquel Nelson’s ex-husband and A.J. Newman’s father, said he thought she shouldn’t get a second chance at a trial, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Newman says the initial conviction and sentence were fair and that he has been in contact with the Solicitor's Office to voice his dissatisfaction.

Newman said the last time he saw his son and younger daughter Lauryn was in 2007 and that Nelson seldom responded to his requests to speak with his children, the AJC says.
