New Marietta Soccer Park on Target for Fall Opening

Marietta's Custer Park, which once included facilities for baseball, is being converted to a soccer complex.

Custer Park, the city of Marietta's latest major project generated by the 2009 parks bond, is well underway and scheduled for completion in September.

The park, which once included facilities for baseball, is being converted to a soccer complex. The new facility will include two full-size lighted soccer fields supported by parking and a concession/restroom building.

The Metro Atlanta YMCA McCleskey/N.E. Cobb Branch will manage the park, and Marietta residents will have the opportunity to participate at a reduced rate in any of the programs operated by the YMCA at the facility.

The YMCA will include the facility in its soccer program and open the field for use by other soccer associations in the Marietta area.

When finished, Custer Park will join Marietta's recently completed in providing city residents with quality resources for participation in both soccer and baseball.
