Ethics Complaint Filed Against Mayor

A local resident has filed an ethics complaint against  Mayor Mark Mathews, alleging that the mayor uses city equipment for other business and that he has been facilitating meetings between his employer and the city manager.

David Ermutlu said he filed the complaint Tuesday with the city clerk's office. He said that Mathews' use of his city-provided iPhone and iPad to do business for MetroAtlanta Ambulance is a violation of the city's ordinances. According to Mathews' biography on the city's website, he serves as Manager of Government Relations for the ambulance service.

Mountain View Aquatic Center Closed Until October

The  won't be available to the public during the height -- and the heat -- of the summer months. 

That's because the facility, located off Sandy Plains Road at 2650 Gordy Pkwy, is undergoing renovations for at least the next three months, according to the Cobb County Parks, Recreation, Cultural Affairs Department.

Hanson Endorsed by Cobb Teachers Group

Cobb Board of Education candidate Lisa Hanson has been endorsed by the Cobb County Association of Educators.

Hanson, who lives in the district, is  running in the July 31 primary for the Post 5 seat currently held by David Banks.

Cobb Citizens Public Safety Academy Taking Applications

The Cobb County Department of Public Safety is announcing its fall session of the Citizens Public Safety Academy.

The program provides an opportunity for Cobb County citizens to have an inside look at the various units which comprise the Cobb County Department of Public Safety. During the course, participants will learn about the Emergency Communications Center, fire and police organizations, and the role each plays in protecting the citizens of Cobb County.
