Silver Comet ATV Rider Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter

An arrest warrant has been issued for the man who was riding in an ATV on the Silver Comet Trail with  when the vehicle collided with a pole and burned on June 30. Neesley, who lived in Austell, was ejected from the vehicle and died as a result.

Randall P. Gianisiracusa, 52 of Austell, was the other occupant of the ATV. He sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash, which occurred east of Floyd Road.

Man Accused of Stealing Electricity to Grow $100K of Marijuana

While investigating a claim from Greystone Power Corp. of stolen electricity, Cobb Police found about 450 marijuana plants growing in an Austell home on Ling Drive.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, electricity had been stolen since May 25 after someone spliced into an underground power line.

Residential Development Could be Coming to Belmont Hills Soon

At his State of the City Address Thursday Smyrna Mayor Max Bacon hinted that there might be some new development at the Belmont Hills site located at the intersection of Atlanta and Windy Hill Roads.

“I’m going to tell you probably in the next 30 days there’s going to be an announcement that there’s going to be something going there,” he said.

Ex-Pope Baseball Star Signs With Cubs

Duane Underwood turns 18 next week. The former  baseball star got an early start on the celebration by signing a professional contract with the Chicago Cubs, who recently made him  in the Major League Baseball draft. 

Terms of the agreement were not announced; Underwood will report to the Cubs' rookie team in Mesa, Ariz.
