Here's what you need to know before leaving home in Marietta on Friday, Sept. 23.

1. The flash-flooding threat isn’t over, but the worst of the rain should be past Marietta by 8 a.m., the National Weather Service says. It will be mostly cloudy with occasional showers possible the rest of the day. The high will be about 78; the overnight low will be around 58.

2. In conjunction with the Marietta Museum of History's "Y'all Come Eat!" exhibit, the museum has partnered with local chefs, restaurants and vendors to give visitors a taste of the food around the South. "Sweet and Savory Saturdays" at the museum will start at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

3. It’s Senior Citizens Day and Georgia Lottery Day at the at in Marietta. That means admission is free if you’re 55 or older; if you’re not, you can cut $1 off the price by bringing a losing lottery ticket.

5. NASA is spending the first day of fall tracking the re-entry orbit of its Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, whose pieces are expected to crash to Earth this afternoon or evening. The space agency says UARS won’t be over North America during those times, but it will post updates on projections as they become available.
