Bids Made for Marietta High Auditorium

Potts Construction submitted the highest bid and Torrance Construction submitted the lowest bid for the construction contract of the proposed multi-use auditorium at Marietta High School.

Eleven companies submitted bids for the construction contract of the at .

The bids were due at 2 p.m. Tuesday and made in the form of the percentage of the project's cost each firm proposes to take to manage the construction.

The lowest bid came from Torrance Construction at 5.5%. Potts Construction bid the highest at 11.95% followed by Garrard Construction at 10.8% and Swofford Construction Inc. and Doster Construction at 8.5%.

Other bids include Winter Construction, RA-LIN and Associates Inc. and New South Construction at 8%, J & R Construction and Development Inc. at 7.53% and Balfour Beatty Construction at 6.99%. Parrish Construction also submitted a bid, but its fee was not listed.

The board decided on a five-year bond option for the 700-to-900-seat auditorium. The bond is contingent upon the SPLOST IV voter approval in a 2013 referendum, as the sales tax revenue will be used pay off the auditorium debt.

The bond will be placed on next year’s presidential primary election ballot.

An informational meeting on the general-obligation bond will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at .
