Bring Your Own Technology to School

Blue Devil Connect provides wireless internet access to students, teachers and visitors of Marietta High School.

With the launch of the new Blue Devil Connect Wi-Fi Hotspot, students and visitors to , will be able to login to the school’s wireless data network.

Blue Devil Connect provides the necessary infrastructure for the Bring Your Own Technology initiative. Through BYOT, students can now bring their personal mobile computing devices (smartphones, laptops, iPads and tablet personal computers) to school.

“One of the goals of the Marietta City Schools Technology Improvement Plan is to increase access for students, teachers and the Marietta community. In keeping with this goal, Marietta High School’s Blue Devil Connect will provide content-filtered wireless Internet access to the entire school community,” said Dayton Hibbs, MCS Assistant Superintendent for Operations, Technology and Assessment, in a press release.

“The MCS Bring Your Own Technology program provides all Marietta High School students who own personal computing devices with increased access to the district’s available online resources,” Hibbs said. “BYOT also maximizes existing technology during classroom instruction by allowing students to work with their own personal computing devices should they choose to do so.”
