Chatt Tech in the Top 100 List for 2-Year Colleges

Ranking 16 out of the top 100, Chattahoochee Technical College is one of five Georgia colleges to rank in the top 20.

Chattahoochee Technical College was recently named to the list of the Top 100 certificate-producing institutions in the United States among more than 1,800 two-year colleges that conferred such awards during the 2011-2012 academic year.

Ranking 16 out of the top 100, Georgia’s largest technical college is one of five Georgia colleges to rank in the top 20.


The rankings are determined by Community College Week magazine in each year. The magazine is published biweekly, and its readers include college presidents, chief academic officers, faculty, student-service professionals, librarians and other educators. Features of the magazine include analyses of critical academic trends and issues, vital statistics and technology updates.

This year’s report places Chattahoochee Technical College at 16th in the nation in all disciplines represented among certificates offered and taking one year or less to complete. The college awarded 1,957 technical certificates of credit in fiscal year 2012, a 22 percent increase from the previous year in which 1,604 awards were presented.

A Technical Certificate of Credit is designed to meet a specific educational need to prepare students, or to update their skills, for the workforce. Ranging from 9-39 credit hours required for completion, some certificates may be embedded in the coursework for the degree or diploma. technical certificates of credit may require any combination of general education, occupational courses, and/or approved elective courses.

Chattahoochee Technical College also ranked in the subcategories of minority students who completed one-year certificates – number 35 out of 100. This was a 24 percent increase from the 512 the year before. The college also ranked 24th for African American students earning technical certificates of credit and 88th for Asian Americans.

This is a fine example of freedom being too much to handle for some folks. The idiots who gave theRead More kid the gun should be jailed. Its obvious that a 5 year old should neither posses, nor handle a firearm period. Having said that I am a full supporter of the Second Amendment and the NRA. However we cannot measure the validity of the right to bear arms by using these idiot parents as a case study.
