Dunleith Elementary Cooking Event

The Dunleith Elementary Homework Center provides a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills.

SCANA Energy celebrated its new homework center at on Thursday with a chef-led nutrition and cooking program for its students. 

The program was presented by Cooking Matters, a nonprofit organization that teaches families how to cook healthy and affordable meals. Instructors taught students practical nutrition information and conduct a hands-on cooking demonstration. 

The Dunleith Elementary Homework Center operates from 3:35 to 5:35 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The center serves 27 fourth-graders.

“The Dunleith community is excited about the opportunity to partner with SCANA Energy for the benefit of our students,” Sarah Towler, the principal of Dunleith Elementary, said in a news release. “We are thrilled that our school has been chosen, not only as a venue to assist students with their homework, but also to enrich their lives.”

Each homework center operates with two certified teachers who are responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teachers, an assistant, snacks and student incentives.
