Dunleith Elementary Educator Receives National 2013 Raytheon-EiE Scholarship

Linda Kurtz, a grades 3-5 Math/Science teacher at Dunleith Elementary School, is one of only 30 elementary teachers nationwide named by Raytheon Company as a recipient of the 2013 Raytheon-Engineering is Elementary® (EiE) Teacher Scholarship award.

Linda Kurtz, a grades 3-5 Math/Science teacher at Dunleith Elementary School, is one of only 30 elementary teachers nationwide named by Raytheon Company as a recipient of the 2013 Raytheon-Engineering is Elementary® (EiE) Teacher Scholarship award.

Kurtz will receive $2,500 to support the implementation of EiE, an innovative engineering curriculum, in her classroom.

“Linda is an excellent educator, her dedication and commitment to ongoing professional learning is evidenced by her excellence and effectiveness in the classroom,” said Sarah Towler, principal at Dunleith Elementary, in a press release.

“This was a highly competitive award process with only 30 winners nationwide selected from a pool of 300 applicants.”

Developed at the Museum of Science, Boston, EiE helps elementary school educators and their students enhance their understanding of engineering and technology concepts and support science learning through professional development workshops and curriculum resources.

To date, more than 58,000 teachers and 4.1 million students have experienced EiE.
