Hibbs Promoted to Assistant Superintendent

Marietta Sixth Grade Academy Principal Dayton Hibbs to direct operations, technology and assessment for Marietta City Schools.

The recently approved Dayton Hibbs, the principal of , as the new assistant superintendent for operations, technology and assessment for Marietta City Schools. Hibbs will officially assume the post June 1, replacing Preston Howard who is retiring May 31, after 14 years of service to the school system.

Hibbs' extensive classroom experience includes his years as an elementary school teacher in Florida, eight years of administrative roles at the elementary, middle and high school levels and expertise in charter school administration, educational technology and curriculum development.

Most recently, he served first as principal of the and then at the academy. He also served as an assistant principal at .

Superintendent Dr. Emily Lembeck praised Hibbs, noting that "his technology background and leadership in all aspects of school operations will be an asset to our school system overall."

Hibbs said: "I am honored to have the opportunity to serve in this capacity, and I look forward to partnering with all system personnel to enhance school operations, instructional technology, and student assessment."

A graduate of Nova Southeastern University, Hibbs earned a master's degree in educational technology. He earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education at Florida Atlantic University. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in K-12 school administration at Seton Hall University.
