Kroger to Donate $6,000 to Marietta Schools for ‘Healthy Living’

Hickory Hills Elementary and A.L. Burruss Elementary are among the 63 elementary and middle schools to receive grants.

and are among five Cobb schools that will receive grants from Kroger’s Atlanta Division as part of the“Earning Plus Learning” program.

The annual contest invited schools across the Division to creatively demonstrate how they promoted the 2011-2012 theme, “Healthy Living,” within their communities.

Hickory Hills Elementary will receive a $5,000 grant, and A.L. Burruss will receive a $1,000 grant.

“Throughout the years, Kroger’s Earning Plus Learning program has donated millions of dollars to local schools and students,” said Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “Once again, we are honored to reward these exceptional schools that have worked so hard to set an example in their communities.”

Other grant recipients include: Faith Lutheran Church and School, $5,000 grant; Bells Ferry Elementary, $1,500 grant; and Kennesaw Charter School, $1,000 grant.

The Earning Plus Learning entries took the form of scrapbooks, photos, videos, essays, news clippings and more. All entries were reviewed by a panel of judges comprised of local and regional community leaders and the Kroger Community Involvement Team.

Throughout the Division, 63 elementary and middle schools will receive a total of $146,950 in grants for the program.
